Reflecting on my journey from bullying to healing

Deep breath..... I've come to a point in my life where I feel it's time to be vulnerable and open up about my journey with bullying .... It's something I rarely talk about, the bullying I faced as a child, and as a young adult in the workplace. It's only now, at 47, that I find myself looking back on those years and having the profound realisation: the impact of bullying is more lasting than I ever acknowledged. As a child, I faced relentless teasing, name calling, feeling public humiliation and shame, and as I started my career I experienced bullying in the workplace, making me afraid to be myself, feeling the need to change how I behaved, acted and interacted with others. For many years, I carried the weight of those experiences, often feeling like a shadow of my true self. I allowed the negative voices from my past to dictate how I viewed myself and interacted with others. The pain of bullying can linger long after the words have been spoken, affecting our confidence and sense of belonging. But now I choose to let go. 💪✨ It's taken years of reflection and support for me to get to this point and understand that being bullied is not a reflection of my worth; it’s a reflection of the insecurities of others. It is NOT okay for anyone to be a victim of bullying—whether in school, the workplace, or any corner of life. I want to take this opportunity to remind anyone who has faced bullying that you are not alone. Your past does not define your future. It’s never too late to heal and reclaim your narrative. Each day is a chance to rewrite your story, to embrace your unique strengths, and to foster connections that uplift rather than diminish. Together, let’s break the cycle of bullying and foster compassion. Let’s lift one another up and create a world where everyone can thrive. If you’re on a similar journey, I encourage you to seek support, whether through friends, family, or professional help. Healing is possible, and you have the strength within you to embrace a brighter future. Thank you for reading and for being part of this important conversation.

A Memorable Day at Thorpe Park: Thrills, Laughter, and Fun for Everyone!

Last weekend, we embarked on a family adventure to Thorpe Park, to celebrate Jacks 14th Birthday. With a mix of adrenaline-pumping roller coasters and fun-filled attractions, we were in for a day filled with laughter, screams, and unforgettable memories. Dave and Jack, the thrill-seekers, wasted no time diving headfirst into the heart-pounding rides that Thorpe Park is famous for. From the stomach-churning loops of Colessus, the speed of Stealth to the twisting turns of The Swarm, they braved the biggest and boldest attractions, their faces a mix of exhilaration and pure joy. Meanwhile, Alice and I opted for a more laid-back approach, choosing to explore the park's collection of smaller rides that promised just as much fun and excitement. From the spinning teacups of Dobble to the speedy twists and turns of the Flying Fish, we found ourselves laughing and cheering as we experienced each ride's unique thrills. I must add, I also felt a little nauseous on these 'tamer' rides. One of the highlights of the weekend for Jack was experiencing the park's newest addition, Hyperia. After a wait of 90 mins him and Dave finally got to see what all the 'hype' was about and they report, it didn't disapoint.

My Battle with Covid-19: A Mother's Struggle

As I sit down to write this blog post, my mind and body are both consumed by the relentless battle I'm currently fighting - Covid-19 for the fourth time. Yes, you read that right, the fourth time. It seems almost surreal to me, but here I am, grappling with the familiar symptoms of fever, aching body, sore throat, and exhaustion, all while trying to keep up with the needs of both kids during their summer break. The first time I had Covid, it hit me like a ton of bricks. The second and third times were no less challenging, but I somehow managed to pull through with the support of my family. However, this time around, it feels different. The symptoms are no less severe than before, yet the toll it's taking on my body seems to be greater. The fever comes and goes, leaving me drenched in sweat one moment and shivering with cold the next. The aches and pains in my body make even the simplest tasks feel like insurmountable mountains. My throat feels like sandpaper, making it difficult to swallow even a sip of water. And the exhaustion... oh, the exhaustion is unlike anything I've ever experienced. Despite the overwhelming need for rest and endless naps, I find myself unable to sleep at night. The night sweats, both hot and cold, wake me up repeatedly, leaving me tossing and turning in bed, longing for some respite from this relentless cycle of discomfort. And then there's the kids, who need us more than ever during their summer holidays. Balancing their needs with my own struggles feels like an impossible feat at times. I want to be present for them, to play with them, to make the most of our time together, but my body and mind are constantly begging for a moment of peace. As I navigate this challenging terrain, I find solace in the small moments of joy and connection that still manage to find their way into my days. The laughter of my children, the warmth of a hug from my husband, the kind words of a friend checking in on me - these are the moments that remind me of the resilience of the human spirit, even in the face of adversity. So here I am, in the midst of my fourth battle with Covid-19, feeling both weary and determined. I know that this too shall pass, that brighter days are ahead, and that I will emerge from this stronger and more grateful for the gift of health.
